Floral Song

by ·

8/11/2017
Listen to the crickets chirp
right outside the screen door.
Such a steady song they sing
in the warm summer air.

A waft of lilac catches my nose,
so sweet, I feel drunk.
Floating on a river of promises
carrying me to the safety of shore.

Where tension once filled the air,
now filled with succulent perfume.
Listen to the cricket's song;
My heartbeat keeps perfect time
to the floral song of summer.
