Disappointment is My Name

by ·

8/2/2018
Disappointment courses through your veins
I know you know by the look on your face
You've become an utter waste of space
A true disgrace, easily replaced (or forgotten)

Raging full of anger... or fear
It isn't clear how you got here
When you look up, the face that appears
Isn't what you hoped to see in the mirror

I look at you staring back at me
Projecting confidence, a fallacy
Behind those eyes, I know you can see
A lifetime of pain and misery

How do I change what's already been done
Re-spin a thread that's been unspun
Rebuild the many into the one
Challenge the monster I have become

I'll shatter the mirror, rain down glass
While I can't undo the wrongs of my past
My future, though uncertain, has not been cast
This pain won't last, I won't let it last
