Dampened Ambition

by ·

7/11/2024
I beg to be seen for what I am
Instead of fading behind
The shadows of others

Yet, I shy away from the spotlight
Out of fear of judgement
Or the insecurity
Of being truly known

Or is it dampened ambition
Smothered
By persistent neglect
Which draws me
To the shadows?

I'm screaming inside
To be heard
Yet, I have nothing to say
To you (anymore)

I seek a quiet corner
Hollow and dry
To disguise my existence
And bury my every thought

A place I can't be found:
Unheard
Unseen
A place I can simply
Fade away
