Confidence

When I need you most
You're nowhere to be found
A cool rain in the lifeless desert
You never seem to come
But when you do
Your momentary respite
is nothing more than a cruel tease
Never staying for long
Only long enough to remind me
What could be, what used to be
Long ago when this land
Was flooded with life
Now dry, cracked, and barren
The thought of life returning
is utterly unfathomable
Even when I need you most
You're nowhere to be found
