But Here You Stand

by ·

8/6/2018
Not in my wildest dreams
Did I expect to see you here
But here you stand, flesh and blood
Right in front of my eyes
I'm shocked, elated, afraid, confused

I don't know what to do with you
I don't know from where you came
I thought you were gone forever
The day you walked out of my life
But here you stand, flesh and blood
Right in front of my eyes

What do you want?
Why are you here?
Why did you choose to come back?
Whatever the reason, it isn't that clear

Do you know where you are?
Do you know what you've done?
How could you when you've spent a lifetime
Looking at yourself
Ignoring everything around you?

I don't know what to do with you
I want to run away
I'm in disbelief, you can't be here
It must be my imagination
But here you stand, flesh and blood
Right in front of my eyes

I've waited for this day to come
for years upon years, I've longed
But now that it's here
Now that you're here
I want nothing to do with you

I can't escape you
I want you gone
Please just let me be!
But here you stand, flesh and blood
Right in front of my eyes
