Bloody Roots I

by ·

4/2/2019
firmly held in place, i wait
all the while accepting fate
this is where i ought to be
while all it brings is misery
no. i can't stay here, this place won't do
i need more: of me, not you
i need to move; break free from your hold
before i'm cast in stone so cold
arms outstretched, digging down
ripping bloody roots from the ground
i've had enough; i refuse to stay
grab what i can carry and be on my way
i repeat to myself, 'be not afraid'
the sun shines golden out of your shade
