a silent boast
a heady host
walking a tightrope
above the coast
close to the edge
i toe the ledge
my mind explodes
colors run fast
sounds seep slow
i have to know
what's down there
a breathless stare
into nowhere
and everywhere
in a trance: engrossed
i inch my toes
curiosity grows
i need to know
one way down
in ignorance i drown
one small step
is all that is left
between me and the most
me and a ghost
i'll die to know
beauty or bones
here it goes
