Ash and Bone

by ·

3/16/2019
trapped inside a fiery cage
billowing smoke is all i see
alone i sit while war is waged
no way to escape the heat

i hear a voice call from the gray
desperately hoping i'll be okay
when i can't get out you come right in
expecting to extinguish my sin

but the fire rages meaner than before
in every direction blocking every door
now you shoulder my sins too
what i never wanted for you

you should have run when you still could
you entered into a lifetime of pain
when you came in you came for good
now ash and bone are all that remain
