An Unearthly Burden

by ·

1/13/2025

it’s an unearthly burden to know I’ll never feel your touch, taste your lips, find comfort in your warmth

how do I tell you words forbidden to be shared, clinging to silence like a secret too heavy to bear

will you ever know your gravity — how I’m pulled to you — every waking thought, even in sleep, you draw me in

what you are to me is the purest form of a fantasy, a shimmering vision that dances just beyond my reach, one never to be realized

as I gather my dreams, fragile and fleeting, unbound by the emptiness that fills the space between us, I resign to the truth that a fantasy is all we’ll ever be
