Against the Grain

by ·

4/9/2020
Against the grain
beneath the pain
what remains won't be the same
until the day
you wake up and say
I shed the blame
release the shame
I refrain
from going there again
I won't abstain
lay weak and lame
I will regain
my footing, my brain
I won't be tamed
by your deceitful reign
I will maintain
I will not wane
or wax insane
because of the dangerous
games you play
my will was frayed
I sat like prey
but I won't succumb
to your ways, today
I will sustain
prosper, retain
control the blood
inside my veins
lay in the sun
dance in the rain
obey, I will not
stay in my lane
I've come too far
made too many gains
this is me
I'm here to stay
