this aching feeling weighs on me
like a thousand pounds of doubt
it beats on my chest, squeezes my lungs
until they collapse under the pressure
next up is my heart, soft and tender
innocently unaware of its fate ahead
seduced by promises never kept
distracted and destroyed
this aching feeling settles in
makes a home out of the shell
of a man I used to be
taking over every inch of who I was
an infestation of doubt and despair
steals everything until even my
memories are no longer my own
