A Ship not Anchored

by ·

7/2/2024
Ship not anchored
Seas swell
Waves overboard
Empty yells
Counting stars
Through a cloud-filled sky
Praying for respite
Hands held high

Where the winds blow
I just don’t know
How far off course
Will I go

The night is endless
Eternally black
No hope remains
Of ever getting back
Yet now the sun crests
The horizon line
I see the damage
You left behind

I wonder where
My new path leads
To lands uncharted
I must believe

Where the winds blow
I just don’t know
How far off course
Will I go

Map ink bleeding
Compass broke
Drifting slowly
Free from smoke
Rudder steady
Have no fear
Where I’m headed
Is better than here
